Episcopal vs Ordo...What's the Difference?...
There are several differences between the Episcopal Kalendar and the Churchman's Ordo Kalendar...
• The Episcopal Church Kalendar is edited to conform to the Book of Common Prayer, 1979, and the recently published Holy Women, Holy Men, with the calendar dates in the proper color for each day.
On the back of each month's calendar sheet are printed the Lessons and Psalms for each Sunday and major feast day, according to the Revised Common Lectionary, Episcopal Edition, along with suggested concluding collects for the Prayers of the People and liturgical notes. References to additional materials in Holy Women, Holy Men and the Book of Occasional Services are also made to help the service planner take better advantage of the wealth of materials available in these important sources.
Under the calendar pad is found Tables of Feasts and Fasts, together with useful information about Lessons and Psalms.
• The Churchman's Ordo Kalendar offers a traditional use of the Kalendar, guided by the Anglican Service Book and Lesser Feasts and Fasts, 2006.
This calendar offers a full listing of the traditional feasts and devotional days which are frequently celebrated throughout the Anglican Communion. The calendar also deals with liturgical precedence, when to use the Gloria, Creed, Proper Prefaces and concluding collects for the Prayers of the People, and colors of vestments - indicated by the color of each day.
Also included are the Mass lectionary listings according to the Revised Common Lectionary, Episcopal Edition, and liturgical notes for each principal day and season in the liturgical year. The Ordo Kalendar is useful in the home and in the sacristy as an aid to altar guilds, sacristans, Masters of Ceremony and Clergy.
• The Episcopal and Churchman's Ordo Kalendars both have on the back of each month the principle service and office lectionaries of lessons & psalms for Sundays, Holy Days, etc.
• The Anglican calendar is for use with The 1928 Book of Common Prayer and Anglican American Missals.
